Readymade Minimalism

Went out on Saturday with Sean to his friend Tanaka-san’s studio opening. He has built a really minimal space to show the work that he has done over the last fifteen, or so, years.

A lot of the pieces are playful in a Marcel Duchamp sort of way – found objects made art through the intent of the artist. The arrangement, with each piece in isolation on white surfaces, is really minimal. Background music was Aube-like, minimal noise – if i hadn’t had a splitting headache it would have been wonderful.

We spent a happy couple of hours trying to find the perfect minimal shot. Mine are a mixed bunch, but it definitely has potential; i’d like to go back with a tripod and try again!
